Our Recycling Centre

At Clearaway Recycling, we are dedicated to treating all waste in the most productive way possible. We continually invest in modern technology to recover and recycle as much material as we can. Our advanced recycling centre has the capacity to process over 200,000 tonnes of waste annually. We are committed to re-using, recycling, or recovering 100% of the materials we receive, playing our part in protecting the environment.

Clearaway receives non-hazardous waste via our own fleet of small and large skip trucks, as well as directly from other local businesses and skip hire firms looking to benefit from our cutting-edge processing technology. Upon arrival, all vehicles are weighed and loads are thoroughly checked before acceptance. Once verified and tipped, the waste is put through a large shredder, breaking everything down into pieces no larger than 450mm. This facilitates easier identification and separation by our skilled picking staff – the essential human element of our process. Larger items are targeted for recycling, while smaller items proceed to the mechanical sorting phase.

Our comprehensive recycling process includes the recovery of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, which are processed into new metals. Electrical wires are stripped of insulation and reprocessed into new cables. Plastics, from old toys to uPVC window frames, are segregated for recycling into new products. Waste wood is graded for use in new wood products or as biomass in energy recovery facilities. Bricks and concrete are sorted and crushed for use in foundations and construction blocks. Light waste is removed by an air separator and transformed into refuse-derived fuel (RDF) for energy plants, reducing reliance on fossil fuels. Heavy items like small stones and broken glass are cleaned and used in concrete production.
