Hardcore

A heap of solid materials, generally broken-down bits of concrete, stones and bricks.

  • Provides an essential part of a strong foundation for building work.
  • When well compacted, it provides a subbase and can be suitable for raising floor levels or
    providing fantastic drainage qualities.

Hardcore is suitable for the creation of roads, pavings, driveways, foundations and floor slabs.

Type 1 MOT

MOT Type 1 is a high-quality fill or subbase material.

  • Used for road construction, car parking areas and home driveways.
  • It is made up of a mixture of rock and stone.

Crushed 6F2

6F2 stone or type 2 crushed concrete is the byproduct of demolition.

  • Inexpensive, coarse aggregate.
  • Can be used as a well-draining subbase for various projects e.g. roads, pathways, patios and driveways.

Topsoil

The upper layer of soil.

  • Can be used for several different garden and landscaping applications, including the creation of raised beds and borders.
  • Provides a base for laying new turf or sowing grass seed.
  • Also useful for drainage
  • Adding depth to shallow areas of land or to level out uneven surfaces of your lawn.

Compost

  • Mixture of ingredients used as plant fertiliser and to improve the soils physical, chemical and biological properties.
  • Builds good soil structure, enabling soil to retain nutrients, water and air.
  • It is perfect for agricultural use and farming due to it aiding the soil in maintaining a neutral PH and protecting plants from many diseases or droughts.

Sharp Sand

A gritty sand used in concrete and potting soil mixes.

  • Can be used to mix concrete and when laying slabs or block pavings.
  • Commonly used when laying paving courses, such as driveways, paths and patios.
  • It can also be used for a wide range of building applications and is useful when creating external concrete work or for screeding.

Ballast

A dense mixture of gravel and sand which forms a rough, coarse aggregate used in an extensive range of construction applications.

  • It’s strong and sturdy for making the foundations or base layers for garden walls or sheds.
  • Perfect for creating path edgings and kerb ledges.
  • Suitable to safely secure fencing posts in place.

Planings

Planings are a byproduct of road and path resurfacing.

  • These tarmac planings are a hardwearing and weather resistant recycled aggregate
  • Can be repurposed for use on hardstandings such as car parks, footpaths, farm tracks and haul roads.
  • They can also be used as a sub-base in construction or as void filling material.

Concrete Nuggets

An aggregate composed of crush concrete and brick which has been screened to remove dust and fines.

  • For unstable ground, drainage, gabion walls, horse ménages , pipe bedding, roads and shed bases.
  • These range from 30mm – 90mm.

Building Sand

Building sand is softer than sharp sand and more useful for brick laying and basic paving applications as opposed to external concrete.

  • The fine texture and stickiness of building sands composition make it perfect for brick laying.
  • Versatile and affordable whilst also being strong and durable.
